Vet School Pre-Requisites by the AAVMC
Each year, the AAVMC releases an updated list of prerequisites for students applying to veterinary school. This comprehensive table helps students visualize their prerequisites alongside the schools that require them. This list is anticipated to be updated for 2026, but has NOT yet been updated. Writing a Letter of Recommendation for a student, but you don't know where to start?
Are you tasked with writing a letter of recommendation for a student, but you are unsure of what to say? There are so many ways to write a wonderful Letter of Recommendation -- as long as you clearly state your support of the student, showcase why you believe they are a strong candidate, and make it personal, you will have done your job!
Here are some things that we recommend you share in a LoR for a student:
- Use the student's name specifically
- State your role / how you know the student
- State the skills that the student possesses that help them stand out
- State the values or characteristics that he student possesses that help them stand out
- Showcase a personal story or experience with the student to add to the LoR and make it more personal

Letters of Recommendation should be about a page, single spaced. Writing a short LoR may be a red flag for admissions committees as it shows that you did not have enough "great things" to say to fill up a full page.
